Parents march in Tullamore over autism supports
19th May 2016
Over 100 parents of children with autism in Laois and Offaly have marched in Tullamore in protest over the lack of professional support services and a back log for treatment in the two counties.
The parents, joined by representatives of Laois Offaly Families for Autism, were protesting over what they claim is the failure of the HSE to fill over 30 therapy posts in the service that were approved in 2014.
The parents claim there are currently no psychologists working with children in Laois and that over 200 children are awaiting assessment for six months or more.
